The Forest Inn offers guests a choice of eleven newly renovated en-suite rooms. We also have three holiday cottages. Two are adjacent to the Inn and sleep up to four guests each (Forest Cottage and Birch Cleave Cottage).
Limecombe cottage (sleeping up to 10 guests) is in a remote, wild and unspoilt moorland location on our organic hill farm, just on the edge of Simonsbath and it is perfect for those wanting to immerse themselves in nature.
We welcome Brit Stop motorhome guests to stay overnight who are booked to dine with us. Please book in advance to ensure we can accommodate you in our car park. We also operate a small campsite (complete with hot shower!) in our peaceful garden at the rear of the pub in peak summer months.
Staying at the Forest Inn
The pub has recently undergone a total refurbishment and there are pocket-sprung beds, deep baths and big showers with excellent water pressure. The rooms have fast Wifi and TVs with FreeSat; most have USB plugs. Each room has hanging space, storage and somewhere comfortable to sit.
There are 10 double bedrooms and one family suite in the pub. All are individually and stylishly decorated, with everything you need for a really comfortable stay.
We welcome well behaved dogs in most of our guest rooms for a small charge.
Please book direct to always ensure you receive the best price, free of agent’s fees.
Our family suite consists of a large bedroom with super king bed, sitting room with sofa bed for use by children aged under 12, and bathroom.
The pub has a very cosy, sitting room with a fire and there is nearly always a fire in the bar too.
Book one of our individually styled en-suite rooms
We have a separate, two bedroom cottage (sleeping up to 4) adjoining the pub that can be booked on a self-catering basis. The rooms in the cottage are all on the ground floor, making it especially suitable for guests who may struggle with stairs.
The cottage was fully redecorated in 2022 and benefits from a spacious open plan configuration, perfect for family weekends away. One bedroom has a super king bed, the other has a super king that can also be two singles. The cottage has large windows overlooking Ashcombe water, a beautiful stream, which provides a peaceful backdrop to your stay.
Limecombe Cottage is hidden away on our farm, up a long private stone track approximately one mile walk from the Inn. It is completely ‘off grid’ and has its own generator and solar panels and filtered spring water.
The cottage was originally built to house Irish railway workers brought in to construct the never-completed Simonsbath to Porlock mineral line and was later used to house a shepherd for the Limecombe flock. It has been fully refurbished to provide comfortable accommodation for 10 guests in five rooms. Two of the rooms can be set up as either super king beds or twin single beds.
The cottage faces south and is remote, wild and beautiful. You should see plenty of red deer and are perfectly located to enjoy the stags rutting in October without having to leave the cottage!

Birch Cleave Stables
We are delighted to work in partnership with our neighbours, Paul and Pip Hale, to offer their beautifully renovated cottage situated conveniently across the road.
The cottage accommodates 4 people in two rooms; one with a super king bed and the other can be set up as either a super king or a twin. The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen for use on a self-catering basis, or guests are welcome to join us in the Inn for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The cottage nestles under the canopy of the highest beech wood in the UK, which is quite a sight in late April and early May with the new leaves unfolding above a carpet of green moss and bluebells.
